Assistance with (ALMOST) anything not directly related to Program O

Multilingual

Postby Gunivortus » April 1st, 2015, 11:16 am

Hi, just joined this forum, I'm a Dutch, living in Germany and am looking for a chatbot wich can be used in English, German and Dutch, which I can embed in the Wordpress 4.1.1 CMS.
So my question:
Is there a Program O version or plugin which can be used for more than just one language (English)?

Hi and welcome, Gunivortus! :)

You can certainly use Program O with any, or even all, of the languages you've mentioned. You should also be able to use them together, if you like. The only real "problem" with that is that there aren't many AIML files already in existence in German, and I don't know of any that are written in Dutch, so it's likely that you'll either have to translate some English AIML files into German and/or Dutch, or write your own. Liz has made a Wordpress plugin for Program O (there is a link to it in the Program O blog somewhere), so incorporating Program O into WP isn't hard.

Hope this helps. :)

OK... so, download and install Program O on my dedicated server (Linux) wouldn't be the problem.
Translating texts isn't a problem either..... but which files are the AIML files which I can translate?
I am not a programmer and do not know much from PHP and CSS, so I would have to know where I have to add which lines to let Program O find those translated files.
Once that all is done, I can install the Wordpress plugin indeed and hope it will work under Wordpress 4.1.1

All you need is AIML sets. You can create your own, or translate the Alice's ones. For example, these ones:

or these

There's also the ALICE AIML set in German, located at http://www.alicebot.org/downloads/aiml/GermanAIML-2005-05-14.zip.

By the way, I just noticed that this thread is sort of in the wrong forum, so I'm moving it.
